Please join the Ekta Mandir in celebrating Shakambari Puja.
Lalitha Sahasranamam will start at 10am.
Shree Lalitha Parameswari is worshipped in the form of Banashankari, the Goddess of the forest, Shatakshi, the Goddess with one hundred compassionate eyes, and Shakambari, the Goddess of vegetation to show gratitude for bringing balance to the earth and saving all lives. Shree Lalithamba took these forms to save the rishis who were tormented by a demon know as Durgama who stole the Vedas and prevented all offerings to Gods. This caused the rains to fail for one hundred years causing a severe drought. When the rishis meditated on Devi, the Goddess appeared as Shatakshi , shedding tears of compassion for her devotees which filled the rivers. Goddess Shakambari nourished her devotees by producing greens, vegetables, fruits and grains and medicinal herbs from her own body. Goddess Durga killed Durgama. Devi will be decorated with greens, vegetables and fruits. This worship will prevent all calamities and bless the devotee with health, happiness and prosperity.
