Message from the President
Namaste Devotees:
I am honored to have the privilege of serving as President of the D/FW Hindu Temple Society for 2013. On behalf of Executive committee and board of trustees I wish you and your family a happy and prosperous New Year.
Our New Year celebration on Tuesday, January 1, revealed an overwhelming show of true devotion and generosity. Even though New Year’s was on a weekday, we experienced an unprecedented number of devotees who visited the temple and celebrated the New Year with the Ganesh Homam and Abhiskekham and Dharshan. We also celebrated Lohri, Bhogi, Pongal, and Sankrati Pujas. My sincere appreciation goes out to the numerous volunteers who spent countless hours to make the New Year and other events a grand success.
Upcoming events for the Temple include Saraswati Puja on vasant Panchami, a musical night “Aaj ki Sham Apke Nam” with our local singars, Maha Shivaratri, Orisa devotional dance, Holi celebration, Anand Bazar, 108 Kundi Gayatri Maha Yagna, Durgashtami , Ugadi, Kavadi and Ram Navami. This year Maha Shivaratri is on Sunday March 10, 2013, and we are expecting again record amount of devotees to attend the events. We are working on placing an additional door between youth center lobby and main temple lobby to reduce the traffic congestion in the main temple. In May, we also will be having Brahmotsavam program after five years. We are looking forward to your support in making this event a great success.
This year we will continue efforts to make the temple a wonderful place of worship. My sincere thanks goes to the volunteers, priests, office staff who work diligently to ensure our temple is one of the best temple. My hats off to the volunteers who cook delicious Mahaprasad every Sunday for hundreds of devotees.
Every Sunday more than 700 enthusiastic children attend the Vidya Vikas program. We have several well qualified and dedicated teachers who teach various regional languages, Hindu religion, SAT, dance and music. Our Youth Group is very active and they help in various community projects and also help in temple programs.
Our temple would not be successful without the generosity of our community and we are extremely fortunate to have numerous devotees with big hearts who contribute generously. We still have many projects which need funding and we are counting on your continued generosity in 2013.
